Sugar Industry Technologists was founded in the United States in 1941 by several North American sugar refineries. It has since grown to an international association with a membership of about fifty corporate sugar refining companies, and about fifty corporate allied companies with over five hundred individual members from around the world.
The association holds an annual convention, usually in May. At this convention technical sessions are held where members present technical papers based on research or development in cane sugar processing technology, quality control, environmental issues and other topics of interest to the cane sugar refining industry.
Non members may attend this conference on payment of a non-member fee equal to a membership fee.
A spousal program, social functions and an awards banquet are also held at the convention where the members have the opportunity to get acquainted and discuss mutual technical concerns.
A Proceedings of the papers presented at the technical sessions is published. Each member receives a copy along with an updated membership directory.
Sugar Industry Technologists presents three awards and one scholarship annually.
A Corporate membership is $450 with individual Associate membership at $40. Affiliate memberships are available to academic and scientific persons at $60. All fees are payable in U.S. funds. Annual fees cover the period from July 1 to June 30. You may join SIT direct from this web site.
