AUTUMN TECHNICAL MEETING 2011
OCTOBER 13th 2011

The Autumn Technical Meeting was held in Bristol on October 13th with a morning visit to SS Great Britain before retiring to The Sugar House [now cunningly disguised as the Hotel du Vin] for lunch and the afternoon technical session. A few pictures are shown below : if you click on the picture a new windown will open with the full size picture [the files are large so it may take some time] which you can then save to your hard drive if you wish.

Some of us arrived at the SS Great Britain in style :SSGB

SSGBThe ferry left the city centre and went all the way down to the Clifton Gorge lock before coming back to the dry dock where she lies. That gave us an opportunity to see her from the water. The picture implies that the weather was worse than it actually was.

We had a fully guided tour of the ship which started with a well informed briefing in a reconstruction of the First Class Dining Room :SSGB

SSGBAt one point we were even joined by a very distinguished guest indeed!
